If you have NgRx/Redux actions that start with "Set", as in "SetThing", you are probably paying the boilerplate cost of Redux for no benefit. The right mindset is that actions = events, not commands, which makes reducers the centralized authority over their own states.

It's so nice to receive this kind of appreciation! ❤️ This is exactly the purpose of my challenges: to help people improve their Angular skills and understand every edge case, finding joy in using Angular daily. Thank you so much, ngLanceFinney, for taking the time to write

I used IntelliJ IDEA, a JetBrains IDE instead of Eclipse 20 years ago, when I was a Java dev. For 10 years, I haven't cared (as an Angular dev), but my new project uses Eclipse for the Java backend. How is it possible that Eclipse is still as bad for DX/UX as it was 20 years ago?

You want to get better at code? Find an expert that will give you the most annoying, nitpicky code reviews possible. Take your lumps. Ask questions. Keep getting them to review your code. Eventually, when you're passing their code reviews without trying, you'll be better.

I'm working on a slide for a talk at dev up Conference, using Tolkien as a gimmick. Check out what Microsoft Copilot suggested as a template and a property value for my `lotr-welcome` component. I'm nerd-proud, and a bit scared.

Here’s the thing folks. I’ve been coding 32 years. When something like this happens it’s an organizational failure. Yes, some human wrote a bad line. Someone can “git blame” and point to a human and it’s awful. But it’s the testing, the Cl/CD, the A/B testing, the metered

We are saddened to hear of the tragic death of Niall Crosby, founder of AG-Grid. He was a key contributor to the Angular community and the technology community at large and a big supporter of ng-conf. He will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.

I'm probably way behind the curve, but I learned about Zod yesterday from Cory House at dev up Conference. I used it today, and Wow! it's great. Runtime type validation without generating full JSON schemas!

Layoffs affected about 6,000 Cisconians today, and I unfortunately was included. I love writing good, modern #Angular code, and I love teaching others how to write it, too. If you know of an opening that fits, hit me up! My DMs are open.
