Ouch.

The oddest spate of ongoing vandalism in the park saw our doors wrecked again last night. Books scattered everywhere. All cleared up now. This torn out page left on the ground was particularly poignant. Sigh. Do they know they're made of stardust?

I started so many novels when I was younger, but I'm very glad I was nearly 50 when I committed myself to it. Age brings a bit of wisdom and perspective and lived experience. I know lots of agents feel the same. 50 is a VERY GOOD age to write a novel. Go for it!

I don’t usually go overboard about people on the telly. But we all grew up with this brilliant man. He’s an educator, who has enriched all our lives, helping us to better understand this world and thus ourselves. Happy birthday, chief.
