Hurricane #Milton has performed one of the fastest rapid intensification cycles ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean, and is now a category 5! As feared, compact storms can wrap-up and deepen extremely fast, and he's likely not finished yet...

The NHC has updated the surge inundation graphic for #Tampa with the new landfall point north of the mouth of the Bay. This depicts the reasonable worst case scenario with a 10% chance of verifying. Please heed evacuating orders, red is 9 ft of surge above normally dry ground!

Hurricane #Milton is well on his way to being the first storm to drop below 900mb on two occasions. Pressure is down to 905mb and is nearing the very deeply-warm loop current. The ceiling is very high for this eyewall cycle if it can make it across the loop current before

The upcoming flooding event in Oklahoma is forecast by the HREF to have up to 7" in 6hrs and over 10" in less than 48hrs. The regional Canadian model has over 16" in 72 hrs. Those would correspond with average recurrence intervals in Norman of 100 yr (1%), 100 yr, and 500-1,000

The #PalisadesFire appears to have burned many, if not most, structures between Riviera Country Club and Big Rock in LA County. Winds will shift slightly eastwards and race the fire westward towards Eastern Malibu. Evacuate, if ordered to do so, the fire will move very rapidly!!!

The 6Z HRRR has a textbook violent tornado environment Sunday evening in central KS. Backed flow thru 850mb and Cape over 4,500 J/kg leading to off the charts sig tor parameter and a tight cluster of helicity tracks along the warm front. Top supercell analog of OKC 5/3/99. #kswx

The Lee Fire is on final approach to the small town of Meeker, CO. Hopefully the relatively green fire break to the south can protect them along with strategic back fires to their west. Fire weather will remain extreme, and peak on Friday. #cowx
