I've had the most incredible, informative and fascinating week at Edinburgh TV Festival, and feel so lucky to have been involved at what feels like a major turning point for the industry. Thank you The TV Foundation for the opportunity to be part of TV PhD - it's been unforgettable.
I did a lil piece as part of a fascinating series Centre for Early Modern Studies at King's are producing on early modern 'keywords'. There are so many interesting entries in the index already, and more to come over the next couple of months! 📚
A gorgeous, crisp autumn morning at @EHMarbleHill yesterday - the last visit of my three month placement there with English Heritage. The mass of caramel and ruby red leaves made that new lick of paint sparkle all the brighter!!
Just arrived back home after yesterday's excellent Emotion, Embodiment and the Everyday, c.1500-1800 conference. Hearing about so much fantastic research and seeing people face-to-face (!!!) was so special - thank you Dr Emma Marshall and Ella Sbaraini for putting together such a wonderful event 🌟
Loved chatting about marriage in history with Becky Measures on BBC Sheffield just now - really interesting show today looking at people's ideas about and experiences of marriage! (also eternally grateful that our nattering was preceded by Disco Inferno 😎)
EMDG is back (in 20 minutes)! At 2pm GMT, Ana Struillou will be presenting her paper on travellers' possessions in the early modern Mediterranean. 🧳 If you're interested in joining, but didn't manage to sign up, send us a message!
We're looking forward to the rest of our Spring-Summer programme! The series features papers given by Alex Hewitt, @frenglish_louiz and Dr. Hannah Slack, and continues today with a talk from @n_m_williams. To join us at 2pm, sign up here: eventbrite.co.uk/e/scems-emdg-n…
I've just about recovered from the train journey home... But what a conference! Thanks for a wonderful three days SocialHistorySociety - it's been brilliant to hear about so much exciting research, and to discuss ideas with such a welcoming group!
