On se croirait dans un mauvais roman d'espionnage Même après l'avoir lu dans le dossier, j'ai du mal à imaginer que des agents des renseignement chevronnés de la DGSI ont pu être employés pour traquer "mes habitudes de vie"⤵️

Israel is forcibly expelling thousands of Palestinians from Beit Lahiya today. The systematic expulsion from homes can be a genocidal act when it creates conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical destruction of a protected group in whole or in part.

The number of children held in Assad’s prisons is unfathomable. Historic videos coming out of Syria. “You’re free…Don’t be afraid…the president has fallen”

Sednaya was once so hidden that the only reconstruction of what it looked like used acoustic mapping from survivor testimonies. We spent 4yrs trying to shed light on contemporaneous conditions, & it haunted me we couldn't do more. To see it open & inmates walking free... my god.

Take the time to listen to this old interview with Michel Kilo. We should teach this in our history books. The cruelty of a regime where children grew up in jail not knowing what is a bird or a tree.

Unbelievable joy. Held in a Syrian jail for 3 decades, reunited with his family in N. Lebanon today. Lebanese authorities never bothered to press Assad regime for liberation of Leb political prisoners, accepted Damascus' claim there were none left. This man is back from the dead.

The scenes coming from #Sednaya are haunting — this wasn’t just a prison & torture center, it was a concentration camp. A true horror. Mountains of bodies. Rooms full of disposed clothes & shoes. Skeletons. Bodies partially destroyed by acid.

The head of Syrian Network, Fadel Abdul Ghany has announced what we feared all along, most of the 100,000+ disappeared in #Syria are dead. Fadel, you’ve done heroic work — a true service to #Syria & your people. There will be justice.

Caesar was a pseudonym and became synonymous with bravery as he brought evidence of Assad's evil to the world. He can finally reveal his identity. Incredible.

The final two days of Israeli military campaign before the cease fire in Lebanon in November were hell. The shelling continued almost until the last minute, including in Beirut.

This time last week I was in Damascus. Some takeaways: 1. While there was tangible jubilation that the cruelty of the Assad era was over, people are anxious about the new authorities. 2. Calls for the world not to forget the crimes of the regime and help pursue justice

Although I returned to Damascus—a city where I have personal roots—I must admit: I was among the people inexplicably reticent to go. In my circles, quite a few Syrian exiles have found reasons, like me, to dither and delay. Part of my trip was an attempt to understand why 🧵
