On our walk round Southwold over the weekend it was disappointing to see several Holiday let properties occupied. What is it about the Stay at Home regulations that people do not understand. Thousands have died during this deadly pandemic and still people are ignoring the rules!

Had my vaccination yesterday. Very smooth organisation at the Sole Bay Health Centre in Reydon. Well done to all the volunteers helping. Painless experience and no after effect. Looking forward to getting back onto the beach in the summer and with luck might even make the cruise!

Gorgeous day for lifting the two new chimneys into position on the reconstruction of the old #Southwold Hospital site today. They weigh 2.5 ton each and are exact replicas of the originals . Well done to all involved in this important Community project.

First sign of summer when the Beach Huts go back. Great to see people enjoying themselves on a sunny Southwold beach this morning. North East wind still a little cold and it is easy to spot the locals as they are the ones still dressed in coats and hats!

Great day at Newmarket races on Friday. The guy taking my first bet misheard me and put my fiver on the wrong horse. Guess what it came in first and I made £25. Lucky or what😀. Tom Jones was amazing in the evening but that's not unusual 🤩

It was great to welcome Suffolk CC Councillor Bobby Bennett to Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service #BuryStEdmunds. A fantastic insight given by #RedWatch into the varied role of a firefighter. Thank you Councillor for your time & your desire to understand the role & the challenges.

Brilliant to see the Bailey Bridge open after its refurbishment . Well done to all involved in securing the long term future of this important structure connecting the Southwold and Walberswick communities. Completed a week early and within budget!

After 5 years of hard work jumping through various planning hoops the work on creating a green car park in Southwold has started today and should be open for Easter next year. Exciting times or what!

Great Christmas Lights Switch On in Southwold tonight. Shame about the weather but congratulations and well done to all involved in organising this event for the community and visitors to the Town.

- How do you think we should spend our budget? - Where would you spend more? - Which council services are more or less important to you? Tell us in our three question survey, it’ll take just a few minutes: suffolk.gov.uk/budget

Government to sign devolution deals today with Norfolk and Suffolk. Deals will ultimately lead to more money and some powers coming from whitehall to the region with a directly elected leader (not mayor!) for both counties in 2024. BUT still lots of discussion before this happens

Thank you to the local Rotary Club for supporting the Southwold Sailors Reading Room with a £200 donation. It is financial support like this that keeps this fantastic historical building in good shape for future generations to enjoy.
