To my fellow school librarians: Libraries are more than just those four walls. I’m so proud of us as a profession to show our school communities that we can adapt and lead in these challenging times. Celebrate your successes! Happy National School Librarian Day! #PikeProud

It's Pink Out Day at FCPA. Each Friday in October students and staff can wear pink by donating $1.00 for Breast Cancer Awareness.

I would treat "test writing" as a separate genre, and I would only teach it right before the test. The rest of the year is "real world" writing. If kids write well, they will do fine on the tests. They will not write well if they only do test prep writing.

Teachers, this year more than ever you may feel like you have no control. But remember you are in charge of your: *Attitude * How you treat others * Self care * Self talk * Gratitude * Body language * Joy / never let others steal it!

To the substitute educators that have showed up this week... the new ones that saw a need and signed up... the ones that came out of retirement to help... the ones that keep coming back... you are SO appreciated! Thank you!

If you are worried about teacher retention, remember, if you want to keep the best teachers, treat them like they are the best. Few teachers leave an environment where they feel valued, supported, appreciated, and treated like professionals. Few want to leave a winning team!

School culture is not created by a mission statement (most don't even know their statement says), catch phrases or educational buzz words, but it is created by the ACTIONS of everyone associated with the school.
