EGLE has issued an Air Quality Alert for elevated levels of fine particulates (PM2.5). For the western half of the UP, the alert is Saturday afternoon through noon Monday. For the eastern half, the alert is Sunday through noon Monday.

🚨 Statewide Air Quality Advisory for MI July 30-July 31 🚨 USG to Unhealthy PM-2.5 conc. are making their way southward into the Lower Peninsula and are expected to persist through at least July 31. Literal “Smoke on The Water” can be seen enshrouding the Mackinac Bridge.

⚠️Statewide Air Quality Advisory for MI extended through Sat., Aug 2. ⚠️ Although the LP may see improvements Friday, persistent plumes of smoke are expected to return overnight into Saturday. The UP will be under consistent smoke through at least Saturday.

From our Meteorologists: Air Quality Advisories are expected to end Thursday as conditions improve across Michigan. While some haze lingers, much is due to fog and humidity. Elevated ozone could be the next challenge. Forecast update coming Thursday: Michigan.gov/MiAir
