“Forestry isn’t rocket science, it is much more complicated” - I think it is a wrap! An exciting #IUFRO2024 where I got to catch up with my long-term conference buddy, hype my lab members at their amazing talks and finally met my favorite science communicator Dr. Tom Ovenden
I‘ve always admired Dr. Dr. Karamba Diaby and his courage and it’s especially sad to me to see one of the few people with a natural/ environmental science background in our parliament leave…
It is getting more practical! Ana Stritih assessed the risk of protective forests in the alps by distrubances. What surprised me the most: Over 40% of forests maintain their protective structure after disturbance!
After a first hike in the Grand Teton NP and some (ongoing) hick ups to get the whole team on site, we are excited to hit the second field work season with Ecosystem Dynamics and Forest Management TU Munich tomorrow in #GrandTetonNationalPark
Forest Research has x3 PAID internships (6 months) available in #pathology (Xylella fastidiosa), #entomology (pinewood nematode) & #SocialSciences (restoring lost trees) through the Centre for Forest Protection Centre for Forest Protection (Oct24 - Apr25) 👇🤯 forestprotection.uk/vacancies-six-…
It’s a wrap! Fieldwork in Grand Teton 2024 ✅ And what next? Other might chill, we hiked Mt St.John (3484 m) - what an amazing group to be with ⛰️ Thank you to Rupert Seidl and the whole Ecosystem Dynamics and Forest Management TU Munich team - it is a privilege to be part of this group!
Interested in an interdisciplinary PhD in Human-Environment interaction in the beautiful @BerchtesgadenNP with the amazing Ana Stritih? Than this is your chance! Comes in a package with our fun Ecosystem Dynamics and Forest Management TU Munich team (hiking & climbing & science buddies 😊)
How are landscapes with different forest disturbance regimes responding to climate change? Great first PhD paper by Christina Dollinger with a wonderful group of collaborators, out now in Global Change Biology. Made possible by European Research Council (ERC) doi.org/10.1111/gcb.17…
Are you interested in building and comparing canopy height models (CHMs) using LiDAR? Then check out our latest paper Methods in Ecology and Evolution where we explore how to do this well and what happens if you don’t! besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/20… Here’s a short🧵summarising our key takeaways ..
