"It is not intelligence, nor is it reason, as, alas, some continue obsessively to repeat; but the great enemy of faith is fear." aleteia.org/2024/05/01/pop…

Maybe we should think more about what is good and great: "The good old days when America was “great” aren’t the 1950s. They’re whatever decade you were 11." wapo.st/3UUT0pB

Two troubling things about $$ as the only goal of higher edu: -What kind of people will these graduates become? -How much harm will the do to others & our society in only valuing $$? nytimes.com/2024/05/22/bus…

News like this is terrifying. But, need more than short term responses to the fear. Need a bigger vision: focus on meaningful lives, community engagement, and ethical decision making. #HolisticImpactReport #Catholichigheredu insidehighered.com/news/business/…

Nice to see this interview of my study on Catholic higher education, noting how graduates have positive outcomes on meaningful lives, community engagement, and ethical decision making. Thanks Charlie Camosy! news.diocesetucson.org/news/looking-a…

One thing that strikes me in this is the need/desire for a meaningful life. It reminds me that a meaningful life is found more in loving your neighbor than in individually doing something great.

Thanks Church Life Journal for publishing this essay on my new research. The essay draws out some of the practical implications of the positive outcomes - meaningful lives, community engagement, ethical decision making - of Catholic colleges and universities. churchlifejournal.nd.edu/articles/savin…

Had the great privilege of presenting at the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Education & Workforce Development Council Meeting. Drawing on my St. Mary's University research, I spoke about how Catholic higher edu fosters meaningful lives, community engagement, and ethical decision making.

Whose valuing the liberal arts? Rich schools and the military academies. Maybe the rest of us should too. Maybe the liberal arts are good for all of us. usnews.com/best-colleges/…

This is another thoughtful essay by Jonathan Malesic. It is not just "students these days" but what society tells them it is important. (Plus, it ends with a glimmer of hope.) nytimes.com/2024/10/25/opi…

On 11/12, the Center for Catholic Studies St. Mary's University is having Dr. Allison Gray speak on belonging and St. Paul for the Escobedo Saint John's Bible Lecture Series. She's drawing from her book "Reforming the Household of God: Paul's Models of Belonging" (Paulist Press ).
