One Man & his Bike: great #cycle trek across central #Wiltshire today - mainly off-road via byways, old railway routes & canal tow paths. Pics of final leg along Kennet & Avon Canal: (1) The sign said ‘Barge In(n)! (2) Flower deck & swing bridge (3) Heron (4) Caen Hill locks.

Good to see the DoT rejecting Wiltshire Council's attempts at poor cycle infrastructure. Sad to see us lose out due to a lack of vision and the same old excuses from the council that put cars first

Here's the FOI request on Wiltshire Council's half hearted attempts to attract money for cycle infrastructure. The replies from a member of the council on the thread also give a good indication of why nothing will happen to change this attitude

One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strøget in Copenhagen was filled with cars until a 2 year pilot project in 1962. The opposition argued “no cars means no business” but the street has been a massive retail success, the city’s busiest shopping street.

Your regular reminder that the towpath through Devizes is part of Eurovelo Route 2. Forget to turn off and you'll end up in Moscow.

Out with Buddy* and Watson, my grandchildren dodging showers today. Sometimes I forget, bikes are just fun. And that’s how lifetime habits begin….. *Buddy in the background, has been dropped by his younger brother. We don’t talk about it.
