A really useful information package ahead of the upcoming #climate and #energy policy revisions 👍 Importantly, the guide includes a ✔checklist for robust #Covid19 recovery plans. #EUGreenDeal #ClimateActionNow #GreenRecovery x.com/_Plan_Up/statu…

The effort sharing law sets binding national climate targets for EU countries for sectors such as transport, buildings, agriculture and waste. But the EU Commission is considering scrapping it. That would be a mistake. You can help save the law ⬇ x.com/CarbonMrktWatc…

2020 was the hottest year ever recorded - NASA. The last 6 years have all been the hottest on record. We’re in a climate emergency and the changes needed are still nowhere in sight. The only ones who can change that are us. Spread awareness. Be the change. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Technological change is key to decarbonising 🛳 shipping & ✈aviation. For that, we don't need more collaboration at #ICAO or #IMO. We need regulation that spurs innovation. And we need more competition. Nice piece by William Todts T&E (🦋 find us @transportenvironment.org) ⬇ transportenvironment.org/newsroom/blog/…

The goal should not be more protection for EU industry. It should be to get companies in & outside of Europe to innovate and to clean up their production - to cut pollution globally! #CBAM x.com/CarbonMrktWatc…

NEW: paper looks at over 100k #climate studies, documenting unprecedented scientific evidence for human-induced #climate impacts over at least 80% of the world's land area affecting at least 85% of the population. In NatureClimate, with MCC Berlin.  🧵 nature.com/articles/s4155…

Yesterday #COP26 was all about #coal. But as our new report shows, #gas is the new coal. And it needs to treated the same way: phased out as soon as possible. 👇👇

Join us at 2pm today to discuss the IEA's analysis that predicts we're on track for 1.8C warming. The panel will also reflect on today's UN NDC Synthesis report, which shows emissions will rise by over 13% by 2030. Panel: Matthew Gidden Claire Fyson Simon Lewis x.com/i/spaces/1YqKD…

Caution🚨 The IEA Announced Pledges Scenario suggests we're on track for 1.8°C. We've run the numbers - this scenario still leaves an enormous emissions gap in 2030. That's not enough to keep #1o5C in reach. #COP26 climateanalytics.org/publications/2…

The #atmosphere doesn't care about pledges - what matters is how much we emit. We need to cut #pollution by half by 2030 to keep the #1o5C goal in reach. The #credibilitygap can only be closed by ramping up short-term action & #ClimateFinance to developing countries.

A great podcast about the history & significance of the 1.5°C goal. Feat. my colleague @adelle_SIDS on the low lying islands' perspective: "At 1.5°C, it's gonna be worse than it is now. But at that level of #warming, we still have a shot to survive." thresholdpodcast.org/season04

Our latest report lays out #1o5C compatible national pathways for 8 African 🌍countries: Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa. The analyses come from our tool "1.5°C national pathway explorer", have a look ➡️1p5ndc-pathways.climateanalytics.org
