So far as I know, there is no Birmingham ban on naming streets after historic figures. In fact, we’re naming a road after Bert Carless, the first black councillor in Birmingham - someone I’d certainly class as historic.

Strong call to action from The Yorkshire Post. Flooding has a devastating impact on local communities and Zurich Insurance UK 🇬🇧 echoes these calls for effective change in ensuring flood resilient communities and that #flood prevention remains a long-term priority for the Government

The devastating impact that #flooding can have on local communities is clear for all to see but once the flood waters have subsided the mental health impact can often be overlooked. Fantastic initiative from Zurich Insurance UK 🇬🇧 as #StormChristoph hits the UK

A small, but telling difference between Tories and Labour. How often do you hear a Tory utter a bad word about past Tory governments? Nicholas Soames was on Newsnight last night praising Johnson - the man who kicked him out and ended his career Tories are v serious about power

Feels like an appropriate time to remind people to learn CPR bhf.org.uk/how-you-can-he… it is such a valuable skill to learn and is the best chance you can give someone in a similar situation to what happened to Christian Eriksen

To Kerry’s credit, he’s updated in face of new evidence and acknowledged that “given the challenge of climate change and advances in nuclear proposed in Gen IV, researchers should ‘go for it.’” Anti-nuclear folks around world could learn from his example. rationalmiddle.com/secretary-john…

Japan the latest country to shift position on nuclear energy. Silver lining to Ukraine could be an improvement to the long-term position on climate change. ft.com/content/b380cb…

Important development and useful opportunity to highlight the critical role that #nuclear energy can and should play with other low-carbon energy sources to help the UK achieve its decarbonisation and #NetZero targets.

We welcome the joint declaration signed yesterday by EU Member States of the Nuclear Alliance. Proposals for a dedicated action plan on nuclear will be central to delivering a stronger nuclear industry, contributing to the resilience of the EU economy.

Great speech at #nuclear2024 from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero secretary Ed Miliband who said #nuclear had a key role to play in providing 'clean, stable, reliable power' for the #netzero transition. He added that the UK #SMR competition was a 'massive industrial opportunity' for Britain.
