This was an amazing evening. If you weren't in the room to hear the fabulous Dee Dee Bridgewater and the amazing young people in #NYOjazz - then be sure to catch the broadcast on BBC Radio 3 or #BBC4. (My only disappointment: Daisy the dog didn't join #DeeDeeBridgewater on stage!)

Boring tweet alert: Trying to book for supper next week (near Arundel/Chichester area) with my mum and her friend who uses a wheelchair. Checkbox on @tripadvisor for "wheelchair accessible". All 3 "accessible" places I've called so far admit they don't have an accessible WC! 😠

Tonight, Bob's Jazz Mob is back for our regular gig at the friendliest pub in King's Cross - Yay! (After an enforced break to to a noise abatement order - not triggered by us!) It's fab to be back, but IMO there needs to be more discussion on how to protect urban music venues.

Here’s a song from 1937, but still relevant: "...The world is in a mess With politics and taxes And people grinding axes..." Of course, George & Ira Gershwin have a cheery answer: just "Slap That Bass" ! julietwood.bandcamp.com/track/slap-tha…

Listening today to Jesca Hoop's excellent narration of 'Legend - the Joni Mitchell Story' on BBC Radio 4 - a fine way to celebrate the 80th birthday of the amazing artistry of Joni Mitchell. bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00… #Joni80

Happy birthday week to a lovely lady, "Jazz Child" #SheilaJordan, who I've had the honour of meeting a couple of times. The doyenne of both #bebop vocals and #voiceandbass - and an inspirational teacher.

1st December. First flurries of snow in London. Tiny flakes swirl around, but evaporate before they meet the ground. Then this afternoon, in docklands, low winter sun. Unusual for us to see snow this early. Any snow yet where you are?

6th December - St Nicolas Day - when children wait for a visit from St Nick (Santa Claus) hoping to find a little present of toys or sweets in their shoes! Here are my very favourite shoes, and a (shameless) link to a light hearted song about them: julietwood.bandcamp.com/track/in-these…

Just got back from a family Christmas in Wales, and delighted to find my new song "Angels On Your Pillow" included in the latest NuJazzSounds on FromeFM. Anthony Bird curates a great selection of tunes: after a seven-hour drive, Adrianne Duncan's "Home at Last" spoke to me!

This touching ballad is almost a lullaby. It starts with #PeggyLee's words: “I wish for you the dearest things…” and as we roll round to the #NewYear, I hope that 2024 brings all the things you wish for! julietwood.bandcamp.com/track/angels-o… Peggy Lee #backingvocal #jazzguitar #jazzbass

If I ever need to be transported long-distance by supernatural means, I'd feel more confident if I could book these guys - rather than trusting in an autonomous cloud!

On Sat 6th I'll be in this lovely room at The Pheasantry with a fab trio, and 2 other fine singers for Linley Wier's long-established showcase. Expect some familiar tunes, and a preview of a couple of rarely-recorded songs that I'm arranging for my new album... Tix link in bio ⬆️
