Today marks 52 years since a fire killed 50 people and injured many more inside the Isle of Man's esteemed leisure complex. Summerland opened in May 1971, but two years later on 2nd August 1973, the leisure complex became the island's greatest disaster.

Two commemorative services have been held on the Isle of Man to mark the 52nd anniversary of the Summerland fire. Douglas City Council held a service at the memorial, while campaigners calling for a fresh inquest into the disaster gathered on what remains of the Summerland site.
