A bill by Josh Hoover calling for more accountability on homelessness spending is on its way to Governor Newsom’s desk

It was a sad ending to my first legislative session last night as the Supermajority shut down debate & silenced my colleagues on important issues facing their communities. I want to thank my amazing Capitol team for all their hard work, we couldn’t fight this fight without you!

The good news is this bill would hold Newsom accountable for his insane homelessness spending. The bad news is it’s Newsom who has to sign it.

This never should have reached his desk in the first place, but I appreciate the Governor’s veto of #AB1840.

Taxpayer-funded projects should be fully transparent, not shrouded in mystery. Yet information about the #CapitolAnnexProject continues to be hidden from the public. Now the Legislature is sending rocks to Italy to avoid its own labor standards. Great report here from Ashley Zavala.

Gov. Newsom signals he doesn’t have bandwidth to formally campaign against Prop 36 (increases penalties for drug/theft crimes). “I was wondering what state I’m living in,” he said after seeing the PPIC Poll. “the public clearly has a different point of view.”

We live in a state that believes in holding criminals accountable. The Governor and the Legislature are out of touch with the people of California. Californians are tired of rampant retail theft and lawlessness. It’s no wonder 71% of likely voters will vote #Yeson36.
