Dear PhD student with ~6 months to go. The last PhD stretch is always a bit hard. I had a complete meltdown when there was just 6 months to go, had to go to student support services, talk to a therapist, etc, since I was absolutely convinced I had nothing to show for myself (1/2)

6 months later I had a PhD, nothing new was developed in the last year of the PhD, and 4 papers came out of it. The moral: by now you may have lost perspective and things look harder that they are. In a few months you'll be Dr. you, and that is a fact. Keep up the good work (2/2)

🏆José R. Paula is the winner of the fourth edition of the FLAD Science Award Atlantic, with his project AtlanticDiversea! In collaboration with the University of Hawaii at Manoa, the researcher uses emerging technologies to understand the role of cleaning mutualisms in biodiversity conservation.
