In only six years, 25% of all Washtenaw County residents will be older than 60, leading to unprecedented demand for senior services. The senior millage provides the funding needed to help older adults take on caregiving, age in place and find independence in new ways.

74 out of Michigan’s 83 counties have already adopted similar senior millages. Washtenaw is one of only 9 Michigan counties without a dedicated senior millage. Without a millage, safety net services for our most vulnerable neighbors will not exist. Vote Yes for Seniors 11/5!

Washtenaw County’s population is aging, and this millage provides the funding to support its residents, 1 of 4 which will be over 60 by 2030. By addressing our community’s needs, we can take the steps to build a better future for all of us as we age. Say YES to Seniors on 11/5!

The senior millage would provide essential support for our older residents, such as food and chore work, to help seniors stay safety in their own homes. Help seniors live independently and with dignity. Say YES to Seniors on 11/5!

The senior millage reduces isolation by providing opportunities for social engagement, movement, lifelong learning and intergenerational activities. Nearly half of county senior centers do not have sufficient funding to open full time. Say YES to Seniors 11/5!

The senior millage would cost $0.50 per $1,000 of taxable income, meaning that a resident with a home with a taxable value of $100,000 would pay $50 per year. That’s less than $5/month for sustainable, long-term funding for our senior population. Say YES to Seniors on 11/5!

The whole community reaps economic benefits from investing in its seniors. It lowers health care costs, helping identify issues earlier. It helps caregivers support older adults at home. When homes are kept up, it boosts home values. It's a win-win for the whole community.

Today is election day! Vote YES for seniors! The senior millage will provide the critical funding needed to help both older adults live on their own terms for longer. It’s time for us to give back to those who gave us so much.
