❌ We NEVER want to see a sign like this ever again. ❌ The next government has the power to make that happen. They can end the need for food banks.

People who are severely or very severely affected by ME/CFS can often need to be in darkened rooms due to a sensitivity to light, and they may be hypersensitive to sounds & smells. Reducing stimuli is important as it may cause a significant exacerbation of symptoms #pwME #MECFS

Hunger in the UK isn’t a food problem. It’s an income problem. Tomorrow’s #AutumnBudget is a chance for the UK government to make a much needed difference to the lives of people facing hunger and hardship. Here's our top 3 priorities for the Budget... ✅ Update our social

🚨 Over 1.4 MILLION emergency food parcels were provided by food banks in our community in just 6 months. This is 69% higher than the same period 5 years ago. This can't go on and we refuse to stand by while so many of us are pushed to the brink, without enough money to live on.

Disabled people are already far more likely to need support from a food bank than other people because their income doesn't cover the cost of essentials. ✅Disabled people need dignified support. ❌ Disabled people don’t need the UK government to make it harder for them to

❗ 1 in 6 people referred to food banks in our community are carers. When you're looking after a loved one, you should NEVER have to worry about whether you can afford food and essentials. Our social security system should be there to provide support to carers. 💚 #CarersWeek

📣 NEW: Millions of people are turning to food banks because Universal Credit is falling short. And now the UK government is voting on brutal cuts to disability support. We’re in Parliament today to urge MPs to ACT on hunger and hardship.

❗️ The changes the UK government has announced will help protect some disabled people. BUT we need to make sure support is there for disabled people who will need it in the future. Being disabled isn’t a choice. Everyone should be supported when they need it.

What you think food banks do: provide food. What they actually do: provide food and toiletries, listen, give advice and support with housing, mental health and social security, offer a cuppa and a biscuit, make people feel hopeful again.

🚨 Lots of people on Universal Credit are in work. Wages are just so low that even with a Universal Credit top up people still can't afford food and bills. Re-post to help us spread the message.
