Fish fish fish all day every day! This is Polyprion americanus, the Atlantic wreckfish or stone bass. Not the most colorful fish, but a lovely shade of slate gray.

A great birthday present was the privilege to give a seminar yesterday on the taxonomy and classification of ray-finned fishes. The monograph that is the central piece of the talk comes out on April 18, 2024.
