At a Pastor's conference I had 120 leaders fill out a survey anonymously about their own discipleship. Only 18 had actually been discipled. Only 4 said it included presence in the neighborhood. Total of 92 said sermons were their primary formation. #discipleshipcrisis

Instead of just bashing people for believing what they do, I’ve found it helpful to ask what about the belief appeals to them, meets a need they have, resonates, or address a frustration. Listening often opens doors to persuasion. Attacking leads to defensiveness and hardening.

We are not worried or panicked about elections, no matter how important they may seem. For that matter, we don't worry or panic about anything. Instead, we seek the kingdom of Jesus and his righteousness with true peace and total confidence in his supreme reign.

We may be opponents — but we are not enemies. We are Americans.

The election is over & the nation is deeply divided, with many holding their political convictions with the fervor of religious extremists. Christ is the reconciler, and his followers, even when they disagree strenuously on important issues, should be people of the bridge.

Congratulations to President-elect Joe Biden & VP-elect Kamala Harris. I pledge to pray for you as I've sought to pray for leaders past. May God protect you & your families. May you lead with wisdom, compassion, integrity & courage as you seek to unite & lead this divided nation.
