I have signed this with numerous other KCL staff. I wish it were not necessary, but sadly, it is the only way civil society in the UK and elsewhere can show its rejection of Israel's ongoing programme is systematic war crimes and ethnic cleansing.

For a binational Israeli-Palestinian state
If Western governments truly support the two-state solution, then it is time to impose sanctions on the Israeli government

Today's MAC report confirms what I argued here about international students:

'Universities lose money on teaching domestic students and on research: fee revenue from international students mitigates in part the current funding gap'

Matt Goodwin says developments in genetic science will make younger generations more conservative as they understand the 'inherent differences' between different groups.

Solidarity from King's College London as over 200 academic staff join the boycott against Israeli universities and complicit corporations. It's time to end the genocide, illegal occupation and apartheid in Palestine.

An important intervention from Gordon Brown Ending child poverty in this country is not a pipe-dream; it can be done, if governments choose to make it a priority. It isn’t costly, and the lifetime benefits to the country would be immense. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Some politicians are spinning the MAC review, but their language is increasingly desperate and founded on ideology, not facts.
The MAC’s recommendations are very clear. Politicians should commit to retain the route. ⁦Russell Group

This really is crucial - I feel there is a growing belief, encouraged by some Con MPs and parts of the right wing press - that 'they' (foreign students) are taking 'our kids places'. This is not just wrong, it is upside down - 'they' are *funding* 'our kids' places.

It's depressing to see Members of Parliament embarrassing themselves on here about universities and the MAC report. We need a much higher standard and wider reach for basic stats, political science and citizenship.

But they do: collectively universities lose £1bn a year teaching home students and £5 bn a year on research which is not fully funded. The business model is a result of political decisions over a decade of frozen funding for UK students.

In 2019 inactivity among non-EU born residents was more than 5 percentage points higher than for UK-born; now they are *less* likely to be inactive.

Likely to reflect recent migration. as I explain here:

It's great that people are trying to explain away 'misunderstandings' about the MAC report, but it's largely the case that you cannot get people to understand something that they don't want to believe ideologically.

And this is what it looks like when a once respected academic becomes a racist idiot using dog whistle language. Anyone using public transport in London regularly knows this isn’t typical of the bus service - it’s apparently Ruislip lido on the first hot day
