I was curious about the source behind the widely divergent editions of the Donizetti Concerto for Violin, Cello/Viola, and Orchestra, and was pleased to find that the French national library has digitized it, like so many other good things. (It's a mess, as expected.)

Playing John Bull on the piano — great music by a tremendous composer, creative, beautiful stuff. I love English music from that time.

The Stroh violin is less awkward to play than I expected, but responds equally differently from a normal violin and an electric violin. Very much its own beast. Not much fun to play imo.

Someone said that it's time to leave the movement when they decide with whom you may have sex and for precisely what reasons. Sometimes classical music Twitter feels that way: you may only enjoy precisely this music under these very specific circumstances, which never happen.

My son was reflecting on the irony of the name of one of the Innocents. We decided he should be called Pope Dindu Nuffin.

I still remember when a few friends and I went to Pizza Hut, and teased the cute waitress relentlessly (also working her pretty hard). Then we tipped her every dollar in our wallets, which about equalled the cost of the meal. I hope she also took it in good fun.
