We just stumbled across someone selling our booklet "Kigelia - A Typeface for Africa" on eBay for $50! We would like to remind everyone that the booklet is still available from us for $0 + the price of postage. jamra-patel.com/booklet/kigeli…

Videos of children learning to read Adlam – and the texts are set in our Kigelia typeface. This makes all the work worthwhile; this makes our day today.

An engaging article about our friend Fallou Ngom, who was an important advisor to us when we were designing Kigelia Arabic. It's great to see word is getting out about his vital research on African Ajami.

Just finished (for now): the first digital fonts of the Gbékoun writing system, produced under the guidance from the Fon community in the West African country of Benin. We followed up with a keyboard, also to their specs, to make text input and digital content creation possible.

Since the beginning of the year I've been researching the usage, encoding and online implementation of African scripts for Unicode. With the help of Charles L. Riley 𐵲𐵲𐵌𐵍𐵭𐵲، 𐵶𐵊 Neil Patel Daniel Yacob & Tim Brookes, here's an exhaustive list of ~75 African scripts: unicode.org/L2/L2023/23203…

Important moment in one of our pro bono projects: The N’ko script has attained “Basic” status in Unicode CLDR, a requirement just for being selectable on phones as a language. Neil worked with N'ko development org. leaders & acted as liaison to Unicode. tinyurl.com/4afuzspe
