The SARB-determined 'downward phase' of the business cycle is now at 102 months (and counting), double the previous record (1989-1993). Well on track for a full 'lost decade'. Per capita GDP down -5% in real ZAR since 2013, and about -25% in real USD.

In a country with over 33% unemployment (in the close to 5-year old but most recent, and pre-COVID stats), increasing the burden of admin and compliance on small businesses is nothing but a spectacular own-goal.

We are the luckiest 1% of 1% of people to ever live in the entire history of humanity. Anyone putting "progress" in quotes does not realize that life in history was nasty, brutish and short and we are absolutely blessed to live when we live. Some facts for you. A thread (1):

Following my previous Tweet, here are some of the specific concerns for Namibian investors in the NIPA/NIPFB Govt can decide if you can expand, or not. Govt can decide if businesses have competition, or not. Etc. Massive scope for abuse. Makes #rishrot risk look like child play
