Low-spin breaking-balls not MLB stuff? 🤔 MLB scouts who is still use their eyes know soph Cole Stucky Cole Stucky has a legit Big League wipe-out SL. Has been up to 93 & one of LMU’s top 2026 MLB Draft-eligible arms/prospects with +makeup. LMU Baseball | PBSSC

Cole Stucky is a pitcher I work with at LMU Baseball. He's an 80-grade human being and a nasty pitcher. In this thread I'll go over his journey, his outlier breaking ball, and his future.

Stucky came to us two years ago and already had eyes on him from his time at Rockhurst HS Athletics. He flashed a solid heater and good slider. He dealt with some back injuries, but Mathew Troupe and our staff wanted to unlock his potential. x.com/PbrUrban/statu…

The results weren't great, but Stucky's stuff and potential were clear to everyone. He added weight and velo for the fall. We added two more pitches to his arsenal: a cutter and four-seam. These pitches would give him more options to attack hitters.

Stucky's a super supinator, and he cuts the ball a ton and creates seam-shifted wake (SSW). We thought the SI and CH would blend, but it was about pitch-usage. We could now attack LHBs with FF/CH and RHBs with SI/FF. Here's his current arsenal:

Let's get into the slider: This pitch is the best pitch I've ever seen. The shape is unique: 85 mph / -10 iVB / -12 HB / ~1700 spin. The results have been great this year: 40% whiff! Stucky also has exceptional command of the pitch. x.com/HawaiianScout/…

How does the slider work? We've speculated about how it gets its extreme movement with such low-spin, and I have an answer. The pitch is a pure seam-shifter. (Slo-mo later in post!)

Stucky's future is pretty clear to me: he's either a high-leverage arm (already-proven) or a top rotation SP. With his arsenal, delivery, + mindset, I think Stucky could be an Ace in college and a good MLB SP. We'll work on adding velo and optimizing seams to get better shapes.
