The hockey world is an amazing community full of intelligent people, but making wins and losses a priority for kids 12 & under is illogical. Other metrics of success are needed to create a culture of development for all players, not just the top 10%.

Players: You can’t control other people, your playing time, coach’s decisions or some of your physical attributes. But you can control your own improvement, attitude, leadership role & being a great teammate. Focus on these. It goes a long way toward developing mental toughness.

You say the right things, but are you doing them? It’s hard to be taken seriously if you say 1 thing but do another. Mean what you say. Your word is the biggest part of your character. Once people stop believing you, they stop believing IN you. Make sure your words/actions align.
