Ironworkers 97 had an great day at Guildford Park Secondary School. Instructor Derek Dinzey spoke with more than 120 students about the incredible benefits of becoming a union Ironworker. Thanks to Shawn and Ram from Guilford Park who are bringing trades to life in our schools!

It's Boot Camp time! Ironworkers Local 97 is proud to welcome pre-apprentices to our 3-week generalist boot camp at the Local 97 union hall and training centre in Maple Ridge. These folks are the future of our trade!

Our Ironworkers 97 members are working hard on the 'Fifteen Fifteen' project for Supreme Steel and Bosa Properties at 1515 Alberni St. in Vancouver. Our crew proudly hung a massive Ironworkers banner as they erected the top truss chord on the 36th floor of the building.

More youngsters getting into Ironworking! This time we were with students at Imagine High School in Chilliwack. The kids did some rebar tying and even got a little competitive with a tying contest. Thanks to teacher Joe Taylor, who is a Red Seal Welder!

Our delegates are representing Local 97 proudly at the BC Building Trades convention in Victoria this week. We continue to advocate for government policies that protect and promote union Ironworkers!

Local 97 is proud of the safety improvements that will come with new regulations for crane operation in BC. Local 97's Doug Parton and Derek Dinzey were proud to represent Ironworkers at the Crane Safety Table with Minister Jennifer Whiteside 🇨🇦 to address crane safety issues.

It's been a busy Week 2 for our Ironworker 97 Boot Camp participants! Most of these tradespeople are registered for the Ironworkers Foundation program at BCIT and are developing skills before entering the Ironworking apprenticeship. Great work to the boot campers!

We had a great time working with our 10-week Ironworker Generalist group. The program is designed for folks who have previous ironworking experience and want to get serious about an Ironworking career. Here they are in our new classroom facility at our union hall in Maple Ridge!
