At the 2025 budget briefing, DPWH mentioned that the 10y life assumption of our roads assumed moderate traffic and, I assume, a maximum weight of vehicles. So aside from road safety and space inefficiency, cars also impact government expenditure. economist.com/leaders/2024/0…

In 2024, MMDA was allocated PHP395mn for flood control; this is on top of budget for dredging, drainage improvement and rehab, and DPWH’s budget. Actual management and addressing the core problem, not prohibition is key. Same goes for its other mandate: Traffic management.
