Happy to share our latest work in which we present a novel method to study leukocyte recruitment to human atherosclerotic plaques. We found that CD8+ T cells recruitment to human plaques is mediated by ACKR1+ IP neovessels! ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CI…

Why are ACKR1+ intraplaque neovessels key in atherosclerosis? These venular vessels express CXCL12 that attracts CD8+ T cells via CXCR4 in the plaque This may unlock new cardiovascular therapy #Atherosclerosis #Chemokines Read our study here 👇👇👇 ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CI…

T cells, especially CD8, are recognized to be the main hematopoietic cells in human atherosclerotic plaques. How are they recruited? We developed a 3D tissue culture model and found that intraplaque ACKR1+ vessels secrete CXCL12 and recruits CD8 cells. ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CI…

Not all chemokine signaling is about cell migration! In mouse erythroblasts, CXCL12-bound CXCR4 enters the nucleus to control gene transcription, trigger calcium bursts, and drive red blood cell formation—especially enucleation. 🔗 science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… #chemokine #CXCR4

In a new study, researchers find that the chemokine CXCL12 can support the production of red blood cells in mice, suggesting that this pathway could be investigated for the treatment of disorders related to red blood cells. Learn more in @SciSignal: scim.ag/4kTxFZz
