#PhD submission on the #BFM! Congrats Imtiaz on being the first submitted from our lab. We look forward to celebrating more after examiners reports return. CONGRATS also to Vibhuti and Janelle also for confirming their candidature at the end of their first year 🎉 🎉 🎩.

Our MotA work online today in microLife. We synthesised a bunch of ancient MotAs from the flagellar motor and tested them with both modern and ancient MotBs. academic.oup.com/microlife/adva…

Yesterday I submitted the minor corrections to my PhD thesis, and today the third paper from my PhD work is out online. Thanks to my PhD supervisor, Matt Baker, without his continuous support, I would not have done an amazing PhD.

Ancestral sequence reconstruction can drive the identification of conserved variable residues in subunits of a molecular complex, as shown by the Matt Baker lab with the flagellar motor 🦠 academic.oup.com/microlife/arti…

And now Md Imtiazul Islam telling us how amazing the bacterial flagella is! FYI it rotates faster than any man made machine! An impressive talk, and congratulations on finishing up your #PhD Imtiaz! #JAMS #JAMSSyd #microbiology #community

To move in the environment, many bacteria use a flagellar consisting of a stator 🦠 In this #FEMSmicroBlog, Md Imtiazul Islam and Matt Baker explain how characterising two components of the stator gives us clues about evolution. #FascinatingMicrobes fems-microbiology.org/femsmicroblog-…

Review on the stator complex that powers bacterial swimming by Jacob Scadden & Vibhuti Nandel from @unswbabs in IJMS MDPI today. We discuss how ion powered rotary machines work and how we can use ancestral reconstruction to examine whey they came from. mdpi.com/1422-0067/24/1…

This work started all the way back in my honours year in 2018. Excited to see the preprint out in the world! We show that CetZs can promote cell motility by facilitating the assembly and positioning of motility machinery. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
