This semester, we are starting weekly, student-led morning meetings. What are you passionate about? What topic are you interested in? What’s a hobby you’d like to share with us? The possibilities are endless! MB kicked us off with a fantastic presentation on famous gymnasts!

Did you know that song lyrics are a form of poetry? These Fourth Graders do! After finding figurative language, determining rhyme scheme, and discussing mood and theme, we took some time to fully appreciate one of the songs we analyzed - karaoke style of course! #trinitylearns

Our study of Westward Expansion has come to an end, but we sure did pack in a lot! Before heading out on the Oregon Trail, we analyzed and discussed art, events told from multiple perspectives, and primary documents to enhance our social studies lessons and widen our lens. (1/7)

As we set out on the trail, students collaborated in book clubs to deepen their understanding of the historical events and their impacts on various communities and individuals. They also learned what life was like really like on the trail. (2/7)

Once we set out on the Oregon Trail, we learned more about landmarks, stops, obstacles, and the day-to-day life on the trail. Students collaborated in Wagon Train groups to navigate the journey west. (3/7)

Once we made it out west, we took time to celebrate our hard work along the trail and weeks of intercurricular learning. We worked with our wagon trains to build model homesteads, ate biscuits around the campfire, reflected on our journey, and played games. (5/7)

We can’t forget about our impromptu line dancing lesson! Although we realize that was probably a little more authentic to the Santa Fe Trail, it was definitely a crowd favorite! (6/7)

Finally, we combined our creativity and content knowledge to make products for pioneers traveling along the trail or settling in the west. We used persuasive techniques and figurative language in the advertisements we created for our products! (7/7) #trinitylearns

We finished our last full day of Fourth Grade with the second annual Branch Class “Yes Day”! The day was filled with activities picked by the class. Capture the flag, kahoot, kickball and ice cream sundaes were a few of our favorites. We are so grateful for our year together!

It was hard to pull these girls away from their books at the end of quiet reading time. I can’t say I blame them for not wanting to leave their comfy set up! #trinitylearns
