Welcome news from Secretary Antony Blinken of further sanctions targeting the Myanmar Commander-in-Chief’s family and business interests. The UK is exploring additional sanctions too – we are clear the regime should not be allowed to profit from abuse of power and human rights violations.

The U.S. is designating Burma's armed forces Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing’s two adult children and their companies. Neither the leaders of the coup, or their adult relatives, should be able to benefit from the regime's resort to violence or its stranglehold on democracy.
