Students have been so excited to see our mystery books filling up the library display. Read the clues, borrow a book and open it at home! The only hard part is waiting until Thursday ... #worldbookday2022

What an amazing start to #WorldBookDay We have had so many students queuing to borrow mystery books before Lesson 1 even started that we had to ask some to come back later!

Never say we don't do things in style! Ms Roberts and our EAL Student Librarian met in the library today to unveil our 'Community Languages' section. Students can borrow books in Arabic, Bulgarian, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Albanian and Turkish - more coming soon!

We are excited to announce that this year, 30 lucky Heartlands students will be chosen to shadow the Jhalak Prize's Children's and YA award! With a longlist this amazing, we didn't want to miss out!

Spring has sprung in the Heartlands library!

Thank you Ben Lyttleton of 'Football School' for your amazing assembly! The students loved hearing about how to deal with feedback and even having their own personalised school hymn...

It was amazing to see Year 7s up and leading their peers in a nail-biting quiz on their football knowledge

... And we especially appreciated you sticking around to speak with our older students about a career in sports writing. I'm sure your insights will stick with them for a long time

We are on the countdown to our own Jhalak Prize announcement, whilst also keenly awaiting to hear the 'senior' judges' judgements!

We are delighted to announce that journalist Reni Eddo-Lodge will be visiting the school on Friday afternoon to engage in conversation with a select group of students. Year 10s should check their email for booking form - first come, first served!

It's been a great year in the Heartlands library!

Welcome back to school! It's great to see so many Year 7s bursting into the library, excited to borrow before they've even had their first library lesson!

We have newspapers and books available for students in the library who want to learn more about the passing of #QueenElizabeth and what will happen next. Many have chosen to take newspapers home as souvenirs of living through this historic moment
