Yes, the French fiddle that joined my collection as my 'session' fiddle has now become my favourite fiddle. Loud, mellow, and very easy to play!

Sitting enjoying a cuppa when there's a twang sound from the far end of the room that every fiddle player dreads. Yup, fiddle decided to snap a string all by itself, where the ball joins. Luckily both fiddles have the same brand so I'm nabbing D string from the other one for now.

Just like the people involved, this album is absolutely gorgeous! I bought it on it's first release at one of Eliza Carthy MBE's gigs and love it! Do buy it.

Melody composing today for a song from 1860 that I found in an archive and which doesn't appear to have been sung in the last century. Another for the next EP (which is rapidy turning into an album length!) #FolkMusic

A pleasant evening learning a new tune, although I think it will take me a while to play it at the speed at which it's usually played!

There's still time to join the London Youth Folk Ensemble. If you're a young - improver to advanced - musician aged 11 - 19 years old (up to 24 years old for D/deaf & disabled young people) confident using your instrument & able to play independently, we'd love to hear from you

One remaining song melody to compose and then I've all the tracks I need for the next release. It started out as an EP but with 10 tracks, I guess that makes it an album?! 'Just' arrangements, recording, mixing and mastering to go after that!

15 year old son went to Iceland on a geography field trip in February and, although he saw a volcano erupting, he didn't see the Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis. Luckily tonight they showed themselves outside our house! #northernlights ##auroraborealis

I remember being told years ago that a 6/4 time signature was unusual. That person had clearly never been near folk tunes. After all, Playford has loads. Although I love playing and hearing them, I find it's easier to learn them by ear than by my limited ability at reading them!
