Happy Spring Equinox! Today is the first day of Spring. Things are budding all over the field! We hope you have a great first day of a new season. 💚

We will be planting trees, building and painting compost bays, de-docking, mulching and more. All welcome.

It hailed and rained on us yesterday but we got this beautiful rainbow afterwards

Acorn were with us on Monday, planting a cherry tree we planted in gratitude and love for a friend who recently passed and who loved Grow. When it grows, we'll make peanut butter cones to hang on it with seeds for the birds, which was one of the things he liked to do here.

We have been learning to lay hedges. We are creating a space between hedges for safe passage and habitat for wildlife and hope to also plant more trees around the field in this area too. We’ve had a fantastic teacher showing the team the Midland’s style of hedge laying as shown.

Hedge laying continues at Grow. Our team are really developing new skill sets. 💚

If you happen to be walking around Grow, you’d be forgiven for thinking this is just a pile of logs, but it’s so much more than that if you are an insect, it’s home! Another option for the bugs in our field are our beautiful big hotels made of pallet boards.

Acorn Enterprises and Haute Vallee School joined us today at Grow. Pictured are a young man from haute valle and teacher harvesting leeks and planted garlic, onions, sunflowers and rubber beans. Acorn present worked on re-establishing teaching beds again - weeding and mulching.

Our pollinator patches are all bouncing back, our borage is all a buzz 🐝. Beautiful and peaceful way to spend time. It’s gardening club on Tuesday- please contact us for details. Wednesday is watering gang if the weather is dry. Saturday is open maintenance session 2-4pm

We did some de-docking and watered our new trees tonight….then had freshly made scones. Welcome to new friends! We hope to see you again really soon.

We were delighted to welcome the Channel Islands Co-operative to Grow yesterday! They came to do a volunteer day with us. Despite the rain the team managed to achieve lots such as de-docking, painting our compost Bay Area and then planting 2 trees. Thank you everyone.

We are having a cake sale! Please join us at Don Street/king street junction on SATURDAY (13th May) all day (or until the cake runs out). We are all baking our best recipes to give you a treat. We are raising money for our Durrell tortoise who we can’t wait to introduce to you

Hi All Tomorrow our Saturday open session will be taking place at Grow. We will be planting strawberries and onions, painting compost bays, watering any veg planted, putting water tubes and stakes in where needed, and mulching fruit bushes. So it’s going to be a busy day!

This Saturday we need to complete heavy tasks. Moving things and organising and maintaining our new compost bays. We are looking for volunteers to help with this please. You don’t need special skills and it doesn’t matter if you haven’t come to Grow before. Please join us!

Highlands college joined us this week, doing biodiversity checks. They found lots of earthworms but not any butterflies after last years drought. We hope the population bounces back soon.

Our hive is all a buzz! It looks like we might have some new born bees at Grow!

Work has been done to make our bees a little happier. We’ve cleared their flight paths and dug up all of the docks. The hive was opened and essential checks and maintenance.

It looks like our trees are going to produce some almonds this year amongst other things. It’s really exciting watching them change week to week. We’d love to share our space and achievements with you! Please come along.
