How are we all enjoying the sun 🌞 ? The farm is certainly looking well, in the summer sun, full of brambles, spring barley and one colourful magpie moth 🦋

Today we are combining our winter wheat. 🌾 Unfortunately it’s not the best crop, mostly likely due to its roots standing in water most of the winter 🌧️.

Completely free range hens are great, but they do have a knack for finding new and interesting places to lay eggs around the farm 🐓 🪺

It won’t be long before this gang come back inside as our grass growth is slowing quickly. In honesty we could do with a drop of rain but we won’t say it too loud as it will probably not stop 🌧️

With such a wet winter 2023/4 and late drilling of spring barley this 2024 harvest has been a long drawn out job. ☀️ Thankfully we have a sunny day to get it finished and safe in the shed 🌾

Rolling in some grass seed that has just been drilled/planted so the seed gets good soil contact. 🚜 🌱 Also stumbled across another relic of years gone by, true horsepower. 🐴 #backbritishfarming🇬🇧

Yesterday we said goodbye to our stock bull Olly, he has has done a great job for us. He has now gone to live on a farm in the East Riding of Yorkshire, we are sure he will so a great job for them too! With that in mind I guess we are in the market for a replacement bull! 🐂

Most of our snow has now disappeared but it has left a large frozen lake! ❄️ This field will be for cattle grazing this spring/summer. You can see why we have to bring our cattle into sheds during the wetter months, I bet they are glad about it too 🐂. Same trough last year.

Thanks for all the enquiries about our free school visits over the last few months. 🏫 We are now completely booked up for school visits in 2025. We can’t wait to introduce hundreds of children to our farm, livestock and the countryside 🌳
