Today we are out at Lunt Meadows Ideal kind of weather…touch wood it holds! But we will definitely have fun! Museum of Liverpool Archaeologist Rob Cowell is currently talking us through his decade long excavations #Archaeology

The weather held and a good time was had. We made nettle string and tried out a bow drill. Even better we sieved samples from the site and found burnt hazel nut shells and lots of small flakes of flint and chert.

We think Greater Manchester Young Archaeologists Club might have to make a trip to Experience Barnsley Museum to see this! Looks amazing, using Libs and Museums objects too! 😃 And in the week they win “Best Accessible Museum” from Kids in Museums Calling all local YAC groups…get yourself here too! #TUT22 #Tutankhamun

Greater Manchester YAC have a special Christmas treat, drinks and mince pies in the Mayor’s Parlour with the Mayor of Bolton Bolton Council, Cllr Mohammad Ayub.

Whilst in the Mayor’s Parlour we were privileged to see and handle the Mayoral jewels! AND we signed the same visitors book at King Charles III and Queen Camilla! The Royal Family

We saw the Council Chamber too and learned about how the council makes decisions, and learned about some of the past mayors!

We finished off a spectacular day with a photo on the town hall steps and an early viewing of #Evanescent and #MuseumoftheMoon at the #PutBigLightOn Festival!

YAC Museum Ian Great day out with Greater Manchester Young Archaeologists Club at Norton Priory. Lots of medieval reenactment going on, we had clothes, food and a medieval siege demonstrated to us.

Greater Manchester YAC have had a fab day out at Norton Priory today! We tied in our theme of clay (Norton has 1 of the world’s largest medieval clay tile collections!) with their “Medieval Weekend” 12th Century life demos, live battles, great exhibitions & picnic by the ruins!
