Staff members and trustees of birch thompson mf were thrilled to pick up the @QueensAwardVS recently. The charity manages our Residential Centre, Gelliwig, and was set up in honour of Graham Birch and John Thompson - teachers at Colton Hills who sadly died in 1980. #pride

For the past week, we have been taking groups of our year 7 students to Gelliwig, our residential in Porthmadog, North Wales. It has been a very enjoyable experience for the students, as well as staff who took time to chaperone the students. It was lovely to resume these trips!

Lesley persuaded Joe Loss to come to Wolverhampton in 1981 to raise funds for the Birch Thompson Charity, formed to commemorate Colton Hills teachers, Graham Birch and John Thompson, who both died in 1980. Our first Dance was held at the Civic Hall in April 1981.

Graham & John influenced the early years of the life of the school, not only taking students on school journeys but also playing their part in encouraging music in the school. Many former students attended & donations of over £5,600 were received. Big thank you to everyone!
