By next year, I’ll have moved all of these people into a new house with Lisa, me, and the kids, and hopefully we’ll be kicking off another unbroken string of Christmases together. I can only imagine how hard this holiday season is for people who lost someone.

With all that said, we'll all do the best we can do. Zoom calls with loved ones, remembrances for those we lost, and solace in those we love. I hope you hold the ones you love tighter than ever and have a wonderful holiday. I’ll see you in a bit.

I defended my dissertation today and was called “doctor” for the first time. I didn’t hate it.

Now for what feels like the first time in three years, we celebrate as a family. Good times.

The Johns Hopkins University library accepted my dissertation today. It’s all over now, baby blue.

She fills my heart with joy every minute she’s with me. And she’s always up for an adventure. Let’s be best friends forever, sweet girl.

So ⁦the lovely and talented Lisa Fogarty⁩ and I are participating in Playing on the Porch next Saturday at 3pm here in Rockville Centre. Our living room has become our studio space, and I’ve spent hours learning guitar solos to songs like Venus and Folsom Prison Blues.

I realized things had gone too far when I decided to set up a Strat in dropped D tuning and began considering using my acoustic for a couple of songs, too. Three guitars to play 25 songs on my stoop seems excessive, but then again, if you got ‘em…
