Not only do agency nurses cost disproportionately more than staff nurses, they perform worse than a staff nurse (if for no other reason than they are unfamiliar with the departmental layout and protocols).

This goes against all evidence. Pregnant women, in particular, are at higher risk of complications from COVID. Further, the fetus is at higher risk of complications including abortion, prematurity and stillbirth.

Once again, I really do hope that Canada is actively recruiting top scientists from the USA. There is an undeclared war against thought in America.
