OTD in 1894, Domenico Ghirardelli passed away. Born in 1817 in Italy, Ghirardelli migrated to California and opened up his first confectionary shop in 1852. He was a pioneer in the mass production of premium chocolate, and his legacy continues to this day.findagrave.com/memorial/1466/…
