Rehashing some cotton conference presentation material and one comment from Michael Bange that stuck with me was the impact of ⬆️CO2 on yield potential - when water & nutrients are not limiting.

In 2019 we mapped autonomously with the DOT platform and farmers. We have been working on ML to clean the data and are close to a solution. Getting data autonomously was only half the battle - the data was so messy that all the time saved in field was transferred to the office.

Wondering just how useful #SWATCAM can be? Wild oat patches were detected in canola at herbicide spray time using the Grassy Weeds SWAT CAM model. This map could be used for pro-active, targeted application of Avadex this fall or prior to seeding next spring. The more you know!

Rye variety trial results from Iowa. Advances in breeding are really outstanding, highlighted are all hybrid lines, rest OP (Tulus is triticale). Hybrid rye is really like an entirely different crop to old staples like Hazlet.

I'm sure there will be questions arise about N removals over the coming months. By the time cereals reach anthesis it's within 10% of total N uptake. A lot of tissue N is remobilized to the grain to make protein. The more difficult figure to sort out is what the total uptake is.

This field has low EC hilltops and low EC depressions. It’s an example of why straight EC maps often miss the details needed for an accurate map and zones.

Speaking at the GRDC NSW DPI Lentil trial at Methul. Frost damage to unlimed plots but the plus limed plots are more resilient to the frost. Stronger, less stressed plants seemed to handle the freeze better. NSW Agronomy, Gulbali Institute, Charles Sturt University
