Solidarity with @FosFreeResearch for exposing the hypocrisy of Cambridge University claiming to be a world leader on the climate emergency, while continuing to partner with the industry that caused it
BREAKING: 40+ Cambridge students and academics occupy the University's BP (💀) Institute 🔥 We won't stand by whilst Cambridge University launders the reputation of the corporations driving the climate crisis. Cambridge Earth Sciences time to cut ties with these anti-science monsters ✂️
Today’s action was about exposing these ties and the greenwash that Rolls-Royce uses to deflect attention from its profiteering from war. #ClimateJustice means demilitarisation. There can be no ‘sustainable’ fighter jets.
#ClimateJustice means decolonisation: colonial institutions like Cambridge University never platform the voices of the communities impacted by Rolls-Royce’s products. We’re really grateful to Ahmad Algohbary for speaking today, and want to amplify his amazing work in Yemen.
#ClimateJustice means workers rights. Rolls-Royce have slashed 9000 jobs in the last 2 years, meanwhile its chief executive took home a £3 million bonus last year 💰💰💰
Beautiful action from Demilitarise Cambridge 😍
On Thursday night, we disrupted Rolls-Royce CEO Warren East's talk to tell him that there is NOTHING 'sustainable' about war. Rolls Royce produce technology has been used to murder civilians in Yemen and Palestine. #ClimateJustice =demilitarisation, not net-zero fighter jets.
Pleased to see this common-sense, overdue change from Clare College 👏 ....Now time for deeper, broader action to #DecoloniseCambridge's curricula, institutional practices, investments and industrial partnerships with neocolonial companies (Rolls-Royce, bp, Shell UK 👀)
What could these reparations look like? How could university funding benefit the community? What changes would you like to see in your city? Let us know, in the comments, or at [email protected] (3/3)
