(3/10) These tariff costs disproportionately burden lower-income US households, whereas Trumps’ tax proposals disproportionately benefit higher-income households, as was even more the case with the original TCJA legislation.

(5/10) On net, Trump’s proposals shows a startlingly regressive pattern, and nearly all households lose from the policies. The lowest quintile loses nearly 4 percent of their after-tax income; the typical household bears $1,700 in tariff costs each year.
