Over the >a decade I've covered US foreign policy from DC, the narrative that Isr-Pal can be largely ignored for other ME concerns has grown stronger. Just today, we saw US+Saudi officials push that line to the WSJ. Reality keeps defying spin & deliberately blinkered approaches.

5 days after we heard we're in a new period of Middle East escalation, we look to be at an even higher risk of all-out war―a scenario experts & officials have warned of for months.

Nowhere in this period: real progress towards addressing Gaza's pain or Israel-Palestine's future.

Can anyone be confident that Israel and Iran share the similar perceptions of proportionality and escalation here? Seems to be some very dangerous politics at play in both countries -- are Bibi, Israeli public, the IDF + IC on the same page? The IRGC and Khamenei?
