Megathread of everything we're announcing for Jazz - build backendless apps at Local-First Conf. It's been a hell of a year in the best sense and I can't wait to share what we've been cooking. (And this doesn't even include our "one more thing" 🤫) Stay tuned as I expand on details over the next

The coolest thing was being able to bring the whole team and really have time to help each new adopter. If you missed out on that, we’re still around for two days - and our Discord is the next best thing: we’re all builders ourselves and would love to hear about what you’re

Love meeting new builders online me: “Hey Jazz supports ProseMirror now, we should build a ProseKit example or something” *minds my own business for 3h* ocavue: “here’s the example”

My full talk from Local-First Conf is up! Featuring 1y of progress on Jazz - build backendless apps. And: two big announcements, both previewed in the most sketchy, yet successful demo I've ever done. - Waffle, a Discord/Slack alternative built on Jazz - Soul, our upcoming AI toolkit for Jazz

The brand of “local-first” is fucked💀 Between zealots arguing for a narrow, utopian interpretation… And sync engines benefitting from a fake tradeoff… Many in the space have given up calling themselves local-first. Jazz - build backendless apps will remain “subtly but proudly” local-first🧵

I don’t like talking about Jazz - the DB that syncs’s competitors directly, it should shine on its own merits. And today is a more complete, mature solution. But this really surprised me. We had 10+ regional sync caches from day one. That’s kind of the whole point vs a trad DB.

People keep asking us if Jazz - the DB that syncs will have vector search... What's better than building a first class vector search feature for Jazz in maybe a couple months? A single person right now being able to ship it as a small, very neat, very high quality library *on top of* Jazz!

. Tilly is the wholesome counterpart to the soul crushing emptiness of friend dot com making you a better friend and making real friends a bigger part of your life oh and it’s *another* super polished app built by a single person, with Jazz and it’s open source!!

So proud that Jazz - the DB that syncs is a launch backend that you can use in Vercel’s new Workflow DevKit. Durable workflows are arguably the compute abstraction of the decade - the best DX for persistence/queues is one that fully disappears. Jazz is uniquely suited to power workflows…

We want to replace Durable Objects with Jazz by giving you DO-like persistence that works on any compute (and is more flexible & cheaper) Still, you can already run Jazz *on* DOs, but now it persists directly to their SQLite, thanks to Nipsuli! “There’s no one way to Jazz” 🎷

our average experience with indie devs who use Jazz is that they just show up one day with a perfectly polished app that they’ve built in no time and with no help the first couple times we thought it was a fluke congrats to Nedim Arabacı for launching his personal finance app!

Another week, another successful release of a lovingly crafted indie app built on Jazz, this time with Expo. Cuppl is an all-in-one app using Jazz’s built-in collaboration and sharing features for the most important team of them all: You and your significant other ❤️

What if useState() was your database? We're excited to have Anselm Eickhoff join us at React Miami to tell us how sync engines and local-first databases give you global, persistent reactive state, without having to worry about requests and networking at all.
