There should be a separate fast-track for Duwamish Tribe infrastructure requests. Like, if the tribe wants a sidewalk, they should get a sidewalk. They shouldn’t need to get in line with other neighborhood groups and compete for very limited funds.

I am proud to announce the endorsement of ATU587. Transit workers play a critical role in our city and state always, but during this crisis they have bravely showed up as essential workers day after day. I am honored to stand with you in Olympia next year.

“...city documents reveal that the Seattle Police Department spent $60,372 sending Seattle police officials to Palestine. There, the city’s cops —including Best — learned counterinsurgency techniques from an Israeli military that received $3.8 billion in U.S. aid in 2019.” 🤯🤬

Bike lanes aren't enough. As long as #bikingwhileblack is a death sentence, transportation justice is impossible. We call on bicycle & transit advocacy groups to explicitly center anti-racism & removing cops from traffic enforcement in their activism. #DijonKizzee #defundNYPD

“Mayor Anne Hidalgo⁩’s most controversial act has been to create 870 miles of bike lanes that now crisscross Paris, a plan she intends to vastly expand. In the process, Hidalgo has eliminated thousands of parking spaces & shut key roads to car traffic” time.com/5864707/paris-…

Climate change wildfire smoke is casting a yellow glow on my desk as I read the mayor's budget that cuts $21.5 million from walking, biking, and traffic safety projects, as well as Green New Deal staffing. This isn't a budget compatible with a sustainable future. We must fix it

The federal government's delinquency highlights how urgent it is for local elected officials to deliver cash assistance to Washingtonians in need of relief. Our state could fund a Recovery Rebate by using existing CARES Act dollars, and by implementing a capital gains tax.

$350. That's grocery money for working people whose hours have been reduced because of COVID-19. Utility money for people telecommuting and spending more time at home. Additional disposable income during the holiday season at the end of an incredibly difficult year.

I hope our state's political leadership recognizes the urgency of this moment, and doesn't duplicate the president's derelict behavior. Failing to enact a Recovery Rebate using existing CARES Act dollars + progressive revenue would make Washington state no better than Trump Inc.

Seeing these colorized images of the Civil Rights movement reminds us how recent this history is. One of the images in this thread is of a housing protest in Seattle in the 60s that led to the creation of the Fair Housing Ordinance, which banned racial discrimination in housing.
