Since its origins in the U.S. in 1880, #PublicPower has promised to distribute electricity to local customers on a not-for-profit basis. ⚡ Now, almost 150 years later, public power communities across the U.S. have held to their word and stood strong on that same promise.

Happy #HydroDay! 🌊 #Hydropower plays an important role in #PublicPower’s push for a #Sustainable future. 16 of our #NCMPA1 members receive 67MW of hydropower & 31 of our #NCEMPA members receive 28MW from #SEPA, helping bring the benefits of hydropower to their local communities.

#PublicPower is the lifeblood that enables growth within communities, driving them towards progress, while helping them celebrate their rich histories. 🤝 There is tremendous value in public power, and it’s so much bigger than just energy... it’s about community.

In honor of #BackToSchoolMonth, ElectriCities recently donated school supplies to students in our #PublicPower member community Town of Selma! 📚 Our I&D Committee collected over 15 boxes of school supplies to give to #SelmaNC’s #SelmaElementarySchool. Go #YellowJackets! 🐝

The APPA (@PublicPowerOrg) reports that nationally, #PublicPower's financial contributions to state and #LocalGovernments are 9% higher than those of investor-owned utilities. Putting the people first is more than just a saying for us; it’s what we pride ourselves on. 🤝
