There’s a lot of infighting in climate circles going on right now about carbon removal. Framing emissions reduction vs carbon removal as a zero sum game is unhelpful. Here’s why 👇🧵

There was a time when you could depend on the ocean to be cool at these latitudes, drawing energy from storms like #Fiona. Those days are behind us.

I’ve never seen Chief Adam cry. This is tough to take in. He’s fought 4 so long 4 the rights of his people; against industry, land/water being poisoned by oilsands. Now, the whole community of Fort Chip evacuated by boat & plane because a raging fire is at their back door. He

There's so much disinformation about offshore wind. The biggest threat to whales & our oceans is climate change caused by burning coal oil & gas. Plus offshore oil + gas has risks re seismic testing, drilling, oil spills. Offshore wind, if done right, is part of the solution.

Reality is dawning but we're still not quite there yet. It's not +1.5°C this decade, it's +1.5°C next year. 1.5°C by the end of 2024. By next year, hopefully everyone will have caught up! theguardian.com/environment/20…
